Mauve and Curiouser Books exist because we believe that buying a gift, a book, or a new outfit should feel good – not just the product itself, but where it came from and who it supports. 

Nestled in the heart of Montrose, Mauve is a curated haven for people who value originality, craftsmanship, and ethical choices. From handmade goods to incredible makers, we offer an alternative to the mass-market sameness – a place where every purchase supports artists, makers, and women-led businesses.  

Curiouser Books offers thoughtfully selected new books and a vast selection of used books that raise money for local non-profits. In addition, we are dedicated to never knowingly giving shelf space to AI-created books and partner with organizations like Libro.fm who are also committed to not supporting AI. 

I started Mauve and Curiouser Books because I wanted what didn’t exist yet: a vibrant local space filled with joy, meaning, and my personal touch. I don’t want to be here just to sell things – I want to create a more connected, conscious Montrose. Instead of buying from a corporation that won’t remember you, come in, let’s be friends, and make a difference in the community by supporting local artists and small businesses (we currently feature products from over 350 different ones!) while helping to sustain a downtown business.
